Attacking from stealth (text error?)

in The Road to v2.0
In the prologue (BG1:EE, v2.0.59.1), one of the tutors currently tells you that anyone will receive a +4 bonus to attack and damage when attacking while hidden. I always thought that you only received the bonus to attack but not to damage (unless the character you're attacking is unarmed). Is this a change from previous versions or just a text error?
