How to begin Expansion without losing any Bags of Holding?

FranpaFranpa Member Posts: 637
I beat the main game and I want to play Hearts of Winter with my party that beat the main game, but when I import my characters all their stuff EXCEPT THE BAGS OF HOLDING AND THEIR CONTENT is available. I have like a crap ton of stuff I can sell for a crap ton of gold in those bags :/

You could speak to Hjollder in Kuldahar. If for any reason it's not possible, you can directly teleport using the console command: C:MoveToArea("AR9100").

@Franpa I did the same as you. I ended up using EEKeeper to add them and their contents back in, along with my missing gold.

Bags of Holding are technically just stores accessed through an item file; just as the contents and status of stores aren't imported into a game, neither are bag contents.

I figured I overwrote my save files but on second look that isn't the case, however I am in the final area of the game so I will indeed need to use your cheat to get to Kuldahar.

C:MoveToArea("AR9100") doesn't work. The Winter video plays, I briefly see my characters spawn and then the whole screen goes black and is unresponsive to input (Game still responds to Alt-F4 though).

What's the area code for Kuldahar? Edit: AR2100 and speaking to the NPC that warps me to the Expansion Pack works without issue. I assume the reason AR9100 didn't work was because the expansion pack content wasn't loaded and the NPC correctly triggers the loading of Expansion Pack content.

That's weird! Anyway, glad you found a solution. You can find all area codes there.

    Yeah that's where I went.

Yeah I think warping to AR9100 (via the cheat) from the base game content fails because none of the Heart of Winter content has been loaded so AR9100 doesn't "exist", resulting in me warping to in invalid location. Alternatively the warp doesn't warp me to the correct location within AR9100 for the introduction script to work correctly (Hjollder welcoming you).

I've come to the conclusion that C:MoveToArea("AR9100") does not work as well as you'd expect.

If you haven't started the Expansion Pack yet than the use of that command will soft-lock the game because you're out of position for the introduction script to trigger.

If you had previously been to the expansion pack area than the command will warp you to the area and everything will seem to work fine, but when you try to travel out of town the game will present you with the World Map for the base game, not the map for the Expansion Pack!

Why not simply C:MoveToArea("AR2109") to warp to Hjollder's house in Kuldahar, and then talk to him to start the expansion?

That would work, I think that is what I ended up doing. AR2100 is Kuldahar as well.
