Asking newbie questions on modding

Hi all!
So I am NOT a mod person. I can barely download games 'vanilla' never mind modding them. Still, I am dying to play me some BG, and with the recent delay for BG EE, I figured I'd try some experimenting.
Only I know next to nothing.
I thought I'd try out this 'tutu' thing, but I think I have a problem. I have the OLD 5 disks (and TotSC disk) from back in the day, and do NOT own BG2 at all. It looks like I need BG2 for well, most everything. Do I have any options, or am I just out of luck? If there are indeed options, I'd love any help in learning what to do. Thanks for your time!

go to GOG and buy BG2 ToB. Install it. Grab EasyTutu http://www.usoutpost31.com/easytutu/, or BGT http://www.spellholdstudios.net/ie/bgt , and install it. If you have a widescreen or flatscreeen monitor, grab the bigg's Widescreeen mod http://www.gibberlings3.net/widescreen/. I can promise you will have a blast.
There is a *reason* people have been fixing and modding these games all these years, and why the devs felt it was the right game to launch an entire series of rebuilt games. The games are
just
that
darned
good.
(The modding community for i.e. games has always insisted that folks purchase the games and then put the mods on top of them.)
