"Participated" section does not include new threads I just started

I'm not sure if this is by design, but the 'participated' filter at the top of the forum does not list a new thread immediately after I post a new topic, although clearly I have participated in that thread. It does show up in the 'My Discussions' filter though, and other threads I have started show up in the participated area - although I have not checked whether that is only because I happen to have replied back into my own threads?
