Stuck on Patch update bar

in General Discussion (Spoiler Warning!)
The update did not start (I had waited for hours) and when I clicked on it , it changed to "Download Paused - Click to Resume" , but nothing happens when I click again.

Now I can't play the game either way. What to do?

    If you are using the Beamdog Client then exit out fully and reload it.

    Thanks Elminster, I tried to but it's still stuck. I found that I can still play the game by clicking on the launcher icon inside the BG folder.
