State of Ascension

I'm pretty out of loop what is the current state of this mod. I see two threads in the BG2EE mod forum, but the impression I get from reading those threads is that this mod still has some major issues?

I would love for this to be incorporated into the "real" game since it kinda, almost was supposed to be in from the start.

I'm curious about this as well. The modding threads can be deceptive, since you'll see a lot of bug reports but folks who are happily playing bug free aren't likely to post, so it's hard to judge just how stable the mod actually is.

After the initial long wait for major mod support with BGEE, I held off on buying BG2EE until it was clear that essential mods (primarily Ascension) would be supported. At this point, I'm still waiting. Could anyone who's completed an Ascension run shed some light on their experiences, good or bad?

What makes it semi official is that they had David Gaider work on it who was a writer there at Bioware. If a key creative mind behind the original content feels that the ending wasnt complete and adds new content then that legitimises it as official content much more than some tickbox approval corporate process.

1 member of a many-person team "official" does not make. Nor "semi-official". In fact, that label serves no purposes other than some weird sense of legitimization that should not be a concern for anyone in the first place. Judge a mod on its own merit, not on some contrived notion of "legitimacy". Heck, half the mods out there exist to CHANGE OFFICIAL STUFF BECAUSE PEOPLE PREFER IT DIFFERENTLY.

NeverWinter Nights community expansion pack comes to mind....

Keep in mind the nwn... AND bg series were designed to be modded.

Ascension is just a in many players minds... better scripting.... it's not official. Just... different..

Who would have guessed that Ascension, the most popular mod for the game, would not come out until after Siege of Dragonspear

I have ascension working on my unjailbroken Ipad. (Needs ios version 8.2 or lower for ifunbox to work to mod!) Just finished it yesterday.

The mod works well enough, there were only two bugs:one of the babaus bugged script prevent saving after pools, and final Sendai's script is bugged. I fixed all those locally and posted local fixes in this forum.

I used this mod, bigpicture ascension. I installed this after scs. So my ascension enemies don't have scs script but they work as intended. A few enemy mages in my game were bugged after installing this on top of scs. A mere handful, really. I fixed them all locally in my game.

Slayer mode was bugged but there is the official fix for that, it works perfectly with the fix posted on the thread.
