Linear beginning?

I am not sure but the first hour is a little bit too linear for a baldurs gate isnt it?
Hope there is a big open world after leaving baldurs gate...

I remember Chateau Irenicus being a very linear beginning to SoA as well. I wouldn't expect too much in terms of freedom to wander the world map - the plot presents an urgent goal and a marching army as the main vehicle for its narrative, so I'm guessing this will prove at least somewhat less freeform than other entries in the series out of necessity. I haven't played a whole lot of hours, but so far there's been plenty to explore within the area maps themselves
