Beamdog Client: Can't configure

ThelsThels Member Posts: 1,422
Since it seems to take a while for Steam keys to arrive, I decided to go and install the Beamdog version for now.

I simply install the client to my Program Files folder, but I want the actual game on a different drive, as Program Files ain't modder friendly, and it's on my SSD drive. I don't want the 4 gig that SoD uses chipping away at my limited fast hard disk space, and thus install it on E:

However, if I click configure in the Settings menu, I get a windows notification that BeamDog is still running in the tool tray, but there's no configuration screen popping up. BeamDog actually no longer appears in the tool tray, and I have to use the Task Manager to kill the process, else I can't even start the Client. Even in Admin mode it does the same thing.

I know I can just reinstall the client itself to E:\, but I rather have it not sit there. It's for the games myself. My steam and battle.net clients run just fine from program files, with their games installed on E:.

I also know I could just move the game over to E:\ after installing, but I'd rather not move installations about. Also annoying when a patch comes up.

Any way to fix this and access the configuration panel? PS. I'm running Windows 10 Pro x64 NL.

I wonder if something got screwed up, so I terminated and uninstalled the game, then manually deleted the client folder that was still mostly there, and then went through the registry, deleting every single reference that included "BeamDog" in it's name.

After reinstalling and starting the client, it still auto-reconnected, so I must've not caught all the settings. Can anyone tell me where the beamdog client saves it's stuff?

Ohh, found a directory hidden in Appdata\Local. Upon deleting that (and performing another fresh install), I have to enter my login data again. However, I still cannot access the configuration menu.

I notice a settings.dat file that loads fine in Notepad++. Anyone know if there's a setting that could be entered there manually?

Oddly enough, about 10 hours later, the configuration panel popped up!
