Ways to make screenshots lighter?

The BG screenshots take up ridiculous amount of disc size, each are like 6 MB by default and few screenshots can easily go over 1 GB. Compared to other games like wow things take up x10 of the size.

Is there an option to make it less bulkier?

    I use irfanview. It has a batch converter so you can change all the bmp's to jpg's in one operation.
