-Request- Adding traps and detect illusion for thieves

Okay I'm certain this has been posted before since it's far too obvious so I apologize if I'm repeating a suggestion that has already been made which it probably has.

As it is, there are too many thieves in BG1 and too many that are useless. I want there to be a certain incentive to be carrying more than one thief at a time and right now there isn't any. There are 7 characters in the game that are at least part thief and most of them are useless. (Alora, Tiax, Ski, Safana, Monty (that one is arguable I know)). So anyway I was thinking that there should be two skills from BG2 added into BGEE.

Traps: They wouldn't be as strong as in SoA obviously but they would do significant damage. One trap at level one and one new trap every 3 levels. I would imagine Safana being specialized in traps as you recruit her.

Detect illusions: I know that there isn't many illusions in BG1 but what I mean here is illusion spells such as image mirror. How it would work would be a mage cast an illusion spell such as image mirror and the thief has a chance to cancel it out based on his detect illusion percentage 100% in that skill meaning that no mages can cast illusion spells. You might think this would be too powerful but think that this would be 4 levels before being maxed out in this skill and there's a 9 level cap in BG1 so a thief will never even be able to be maxed out in all of lock pick, find traps and detect illusions so I think it's actually fair. I see Tiax being proficient in detect illusion as you recruit him (Sort of make sense him being a gnome and all).

So here's how all the thieves would start like:

Imoen: Skilled in a bit of Lock picks, find traps, hide in shadows, a versatile thief.

Montaron: Mostly hide in shadows, a backstab thief.

Safana: Skilled in hide in shadows and set traps, damage dealer.

Coran: Skilled in a bit of every skills except pick pockets.

Tiax: Skilled in find illusions.

Alora: Skilled in lock picks and pick pocket, curious thief.

Ski: Pretty much like Imoen though I do think she needs to have something that sets her apart (If it were me I never would have had her be a recruitable character but I think she could be worked on to be tolerable).

Anyway so that's all I've got right now. I would really like this to be implemented because I think that it would make every thieves in the game valuable characters. What do you all think?

Frist of all, if i'm not wrong coran is a ranger, and i'm playing BG now with BGT installed and i believe it's already on their plans to keep the news added in BG2 on the BG:EE (as monk, barbarian and sorcerer classes, as well the kits as sub-classes and etc...).

No, Coran is a warrior thief. I know they're planning to add the new classes, I don't know if they're going to add the BG2 thief skills hence my suggestion.

Since the game will be using the BG2 engine Thieves will already have access to these abilities.

The real question is if they're going to adjust the starting Thieving skills of these NPCs to reflect the presence of the additional skills and what they're going to do with the extra skills points (or at least I think Thieves got more skill points at level up in BG2 than they did in BG1, but I'm not sure).

its kind of ironic how bg 1 has all these thieves and in bg II there is only one pure thief and you can only have him for half the game, and the only other thief that you can even have a smidge of usefullness out of their skills is jan, (nalia's skills are useless as gonads, and imeon can only be usefull if she has the ring of lock picks/ danger sense) but yeah @AzL0n there are a lot of useless thieves in bg 1, but the bg 2 engine gives them 25 points per level instead of the bg 1's 20 points per level, so that might be able to give them a chance of being more usefull?

I agree with you I've always thought it was strange how BG2 had only like 1.5 thieves when it was then that they were really necessary while there's so many useless ones in BG1.

But the problem is that they have no useful skill beside Lock picks and find traps (hide in shadows is at like 80% with just the boots and armor so there's no need to put skill points in it. So it won't matter that thieves will be given more skill points if they're not given any good abilities.

    @Tanthalas

I'm glad to hear that we'll have the BG2 thief skills. My suggestion to have find illusion reveal magical illusions still stand though. I think it would be a good way to make thieves genuinely useful in battle just like every other classes are.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the BG2 engine already did this. Thieves with high enough Detect Illusion could basically dispel any magical illusion effect by entering "detect traps mode".
