[BG:EE] Cannot change player name in multiplayer

I simply can't change my name for multiplayer. No matter how many times I change my name away from "Default" name, either in the game browser or the new game dialog (or both), when I join or start a game I become "Default Player" again.

change the baldur.exe compatibility to win 7 or something lower and see if that helps.

No luck unfortunately.

The only thing I can note is that the two friends I am playing with both also are running on Win10 (no compatibility mode) and do not suffer this issue. They are running the steam version whereas I am running the beamdog version though.

I have this same problem.

Get your friend to rename themselves to "Default Player", then start a game. Join the game - it will warn you that another player has that name, and will ask you to pick a new one (it will stick).

With some more fiddling, I just got this to work:

1. Change your name in the field.
   
2. Create a new game. Verify name is correct.
   
3. Click Create Game, then back.
   
4. Click Create Game, then New Game, then back, then back.
   
5. Click Create Game, then New Game, then Done (for normal difficulty), and my name change stuck.
