Please bring back the old Custom Portrait selection... or do an ACTUAL improvement

The way it is now, in 2.0, is just a complete mess.
I have hundreds of portraits in my custom folder - and always had, since I first played BG.
In the current version, I have to click through all of them, which just takes a crazy long time.
Now don't come and suggest to manage the actual files in the portraits folder. That is what I did as a workaround for this mess, but that would be an utter horror, especially if you want to create multiple characters.
Yes, the old screen was broken as well, but at least things went a little faster as you could see a list with names.
Why not just display the images as a gallery with 20-50 of them visible at once in the screen - and scrollable with the mouse wheel. Tadaa, problem solved.
Heck, even keeping the current screen, but showing 5 different portraits per click instead of one (and then select the one you want by clicking on it) would improve things.
