Optional features of 2.0? Also on GOG version?

I enjoy certain features of 2.0. For example new sprites.
However I very much dislike new menu's. Especially item and character sheets.
Is there a way to turn on only certain features of 2.0?
Is it going to possible through frontend or file editing will be required?
Also how much longer will we have to wait for GOG versions of 2.0?

A lot of 2.0's features can indeed be toggled on and off. There's more choice in this patch than there have been in previous ones. The UI can be modified both via dragging things around in-game (this requires you to enable it in a file first though) or messing about with a text editor and a settings file for the menus. I'm sure someone over in the modding forums have or will make the previous UI build available again.

As for the gog.com patch, I would guess sometime today. There's actually just one person dealing with patches over at gog.com and developers have to send their patch to that person and then the customers are stuck waiting for business hours, week days.

As for the menus and overall UI, Beamdog has implemented a new UI system that is completely moddable. For the first time, you should start seeing several mods that change the interface from the ground up. Check out the thread about it in the modding section - I have zero experience with BG modding and even I have been able to mess around with the UI a fair bit. You can even do it in real time while the game is running.

The problem is that when adding new modifications to a game of such gravity and age these kind of significant changes should be completely optional and not set as default. Some players just don't want to participate in the new patch and maybe partake in a couple of new changes, if any at all. In my opinion, there should be a Beamdog made or offically approved alternative to 2.0.
