A Brief Dual-Classing Question. NO SPOILERS PLEASE

If I take a max-level fighter from BG 1 (Level 8, I think) and dual him to mage at the beginning to Siege of Dragonspear (either immediately or after hitting Level 9), how long (generally) will it take him to regain his fighter levels? Will I not regain my fighter abilities until the end of the game?

It would probably be useful to mention how big your party is. Six people vs. solo would make a very big difference.

Also, from 161k to lvl 9 fighter then lvl 10 mage is about 340k XP, while if you dual class right at the start to chase lvl 9 mage it's only 135k.

I think they said that to get to the XP cap you'd need to do nearly all the content. This means 500k-161k = 339k XP for nearly all the content (about 100k more if they meant reaching XP cap from 64k new character, not an imported one). So I imagine you'd go as a pure mage most of the game if you dual at lvl 9 with a party of six.

If you go with much less people or dual at level 8 it should be much earlier.

    7/8: 154k
    8/9: 260k
    9/10: 500k

My run, 6 men and doing most sidequests: 400k

So basically, if you do a solo run 9/10 is viable. If you do a 6 man run, 9/10 would be impossible, 8/9 would be halfway through and 7/8 would be fairly early on. 2-5 man runs, well, you do the math.
