Multiplayer crash

Long story short:
bought BG: EE with the sale this week end with a friend and...we can't play together.
We have only BG: EE. No SoD.
The problem we face are:
- Nearly impossible to join game in multiplayer
- For join eachother game we need to use Hamachi
- When we finally can join the same lobby...the Host crash when the game start. This happen always and no error is given. The game just crash to desktop. (and only the host of the game crash)
Any solution except for the refund?
