This is why I've stopped caring about video games these days.

When you got numbskulls that now have the potential to twist things around, and bring ruin. We didn't have this nonsense in the 90s, and early 2000s, but now any numbskull can get on, and destroy everything with the power of bias, and idiotic reviews. I had hoped this would have brought back Faerun from being forgotten like Greyhawk...but obviously the idiotic gaming community has decided to trash and burn everything like they always do these days. I sincerely hate this generation of gamers..nothing, but a bunch of ungrateful little twits with nothing better to do than to cause trouble.

I miss the old days of gaming when people were not so effing uptight. I'm sorry for such a abrasive post, but this was the last straw to me because it's everywhere nowadays, and I hoped these twits wouldn't target Baldur's Gate.

Just a friendly heads up: this thread is going to get closed because there are already a tonne of them just like it.

If you want to do your part to make the community better, please provide constructive feedback and don't bother focusing on vindictive people that don't matter. No point in wasting your energy that can be used to make a positive difference.

I understand...I'm just so mad right now. If there was something I can add is that this has been a problem ever since the Pandora's box called Gamergate was opened, and from then everything that is about gaming has taken a turn for the worse. It has become too political, and I blame the mainstream factor involved in all of this. Is this the price we all pay when gaming has come this far? Future is just looking bleak for the industry in general...

This is exactly the reason why Beamdog shouldn't have added the Gamergate bashing quote Minsc dishes out. It rips open an old wound (yet again). And it also takes the player out of the game. Immersion goes out the window when you are playing a game set in a fantasy world, and a real world issue\piece of politics gets shoved in there. It is out of place.

I just want it to all go away...if Gamergate never happened then no one would have been bashing this game for all the wrong reasons, I just want this to stop already. I'm so tired of reading about the next controversy some game did because X did so, and so.

The only people who could be said to have trashed anything here are the developers who offered us a Baldur's Gate game and delivered us insults and a Social Justice lecture instead... but if you don't feel that way then cheer up, everything's good! The game's still here, you can buy it from this site. The Collector's Edition comes with a cloth map and some rather cool-looking dice. Nobody burned it, unless you count the publisher on to discs. Everyone who was working at Beamdog is still working at Beamdog, and they still appear to have the backing of Wizards of the Coast. It's all perfectly intact.

If you think you'll enjoy it then don't worry so much and go right ahead. The release of the expansion is a time to celebrate, unless you have actual taste of course, in which case it's a time to ask "Why did you do this, Beamdog, I trusted and believed in you! Now there'll never be a real Baldur's Gate expansion! Noooooo."

That would be a bit of a downer.
