SPOILERS : Help with "The Missing Patrol" please

I'm probably being quite stupid and overlooking something, but thank goodness for these fora then!
My issue is that I am not finding the access point to the "ruins in the east" mentioned in the quest where I should go look for the missing patrol.
The bridge to the other side is cut off, there is a teleport circle but it's inactive apparently, and then there is a cave which does not leave anywhere as far as I can tell.
The worldmap view of the Boareskyr has two separate areas, and the other one seems to be that mountain I need to investigate. But for love or money, I cannot figure out how to access it!
Could anyone advice what I am missing? Or could this be a map related bug?

And thx for commiserating! :-)
Came here to confess my noobish oversight, and let you know Myrkvi that I am super thankful to you for having the courtesy of answering sort of a "basic question." (It was...)
My frustration is ended, and the campaign continues. So thx a lot, Myrkvi. :-)
I have to admit that to me, the confidence issue was: is it me, or is this a bug (with worldmap)? I have not encountered a single serous bug thus far, yet reading the criticisms about it, it's hard to believe it would be so. Yet, still it is, yea. I default assume it's me missing something, of course, but to run around in circles fearing it's a bug is just vexing... On positive side, your pain cut short mine which I appreciate - it's the value of community.
Yer pretty uncanny, Myrkvi!
I suppose I also have to just kill everyone then, thx for that advice too!
Issue is that when I talk to the mage and his concentration falters, there is a text saying Khalid dies. While those three guys dying inside have a body etc, where Khalid was standing is just completely empty! I think there is a bug which makes him vanish into thin air at the moment...
I did reload earlier save once, so I think I have to go on murderous rampage, against my better nature. Well, I think it all is in the collective experience of upon-release buyers, lol.
As to the hateful reviews, from my perspective it is a manufactured outrage that shows GG-warriors have zero sense of perspective and self-irony. Whose gaming joy is so fragile that an optional line of text destroys it? Note mine, for sure, and I have after all enjoyed games written for them, primarily, without throwing my toys from the pram! I prefer to roll a female CHAR but that has not stopped from loving some of the pre-defined male hero games, when the writing and gameplay appeals.
I am in truth rather hopeful that gamers will rally to Beamdog, rather than overlook SoD. I find this mobbing unfair and unkind, and quite selfish in truth. "I don't like it - neither should you!"
I'm so far removed from the topic that I don't even understand the term GG-warriors :P However, it's sad to think that people will let such a non trivial thing affect their enjoyment of a great game. You're quite right, this is some torch and pitchfork kind of mobbing. Let's just hope it won't hinder the development of further infinity engine games from Beamdog.
I am gathering mental strength to go unto that murder-spree (I dislike that kind of thing, maybe a bit funny in view of my in-game daddy) but will proceed and look fwd to bug-fixed version to be fodder for a replay!
As said, this is the first serious bug for me, but I have found a number of items that make me think I've missed some minor quests. Since I want to eventually mix-up my party members anyway, I'll treat the first major patch as an eventual replay opportunity.
"GG-warriors" is hardly an established expression, it's just me slightly ironizing the term "SJW" always gladly employed by gamergate sort of crowd - with implication that these fabled SJW will find any excuse to get upset. Like... a little poem, or a line of dialogue maybe? ;-) I do not consider myself a flaming sort, but I cannot resist occasional irony.
When I think of real-life gamers that I know, which is of course a small crowd as such, all of them are neat and nice sort of people, and none would get upset over such minor details, and would welcome other gamers based on interest in gaming as opposed to fussing over demography. I just don't understand the fuss! Sad yes, but also mainly fake, too, I suspect. I just don't think actual BG fans will be distracted. I hope at least - I want that next Infinity Engine game too! (to my assessment relatively the best game engine of all time thus far)
My crowd is similar, gamers and non-gamers alike. No one cares about your gender, sexual preferences, or what one does to one's own body and why should they as it's none of their business? I do however care about things such as whether my prime minister is corrupt but I don't go around berating House of Cards or Star Wars for depicting a corrupt head of state.
Totally agree with the assessment that IE is the best. And I just love the improvements. Now there is a huge difference between battles on different difficulties. The numbers, AI, everything and I'm absolutely loving it. Long may it continue : )
If an Icelander, you would have had what you ask for, I love them! (A Finn, we have a strong scandi-affinity, and I love my neighbors and Estonia without much reserve or assumption of utility.)
I generally ignore GG, but GGW is a proper counterbalance to SJW in my books. If you want to look at "journalistic integrity" - learn source criticality, and admire those Panama paper revelations! A movement inspired by claims of a disgruntled ex-lover is so amazingly non-sourcecritical to begin with that... uh-oh.
Furores like these... so disloyal to gaming overall, and sad - but I keep my faith on that reality check: what sort of people I know in real life. In the end, it'll be fine I think. I do care about game-world ethics, and I wish we could debate about them more amiably and casually (as with books or films). I have only ever once been turned off a game on those grounds. I am pleased I was though.
Besides Infinity Engine, the only other engine I have been slightly hyped about is Unity Engine.
I really like the concept of low threshold initial investment cross-platform portability. Pillars of Eternity is after all mock-Infinity Engine, but I will not begrudge them for using Unity, because I love the concept.
The scaling of difficulty is brilliant! With core BG or BG2 I usually keep it hard, but when a campaign is linear (like with ToB and SoD) I do not feel bad dropping the difficulty to "easy" because I cannot over-level when tactics are particularly hard for my intrinsic style.
For example, I have not thus far managed to beat the Father of Draconis in ToB on hard. Ever. After reading all the hints. I'll try a few times each future play-throughs, and it'll be a glorious moment when I might succeed!
I unintentionally, or subconsciously, sparked a political discussion which I don't particularly like to engage in. But yeah, I'm an Icelander and we're not even close to getting what we want. And we don't really deserve your love, we're a banana republic, probably the most corrupt country in Western Europe, and we've always been. The only thing we've got going for us is low crime and general tolerance and the latter seems to be, I'd like to say eroding but it's more like evaporating. Besides, these politicians didn't vote themselves into power. Idiots, idiots everywhere. Even the healthcare and education systems have been starved for year which is why I plan on moving permanently abroad in 2017. We should be taking the other Scandinavian countries as examples of how to do things.
"A movement inspired by claims of a disgruntled ex-lover is so amazingly non-sourcecritical to begin with that... uh-oh." - This is an excellent point and brilliantly phrased : ) Your English is excellent, I thought for sure you were a native speaker.
I had never really considered ethics in gaming except for general social etiquette which I feel should extend to interaction in the game world/community as it should in all human social interactions (roleplaying is sort of excluded while in character). As ghastly as it sounds I like, or even love, the fact that I can shoot a child in Fallout 1&2, become a porn actor or even a male prostitute iirc. Why not? It's a game and the more choices I have the better. It's fiction just like novels and movies. I do however respect the opinion of anyone who feels more passionately about this than I do. May I ask which game you abandoned because of the ethics?
I totally agree, Unity is an awesome concept. I should be able to play all games with my friends even though we have them on different consoles. I hardly ever play games anymore except when I can do so with a friend. SoD is the only recent exception and that's only because multiplayer is broken at the moment and I couldn't wait.
It's been at least a decade since I played with a full party but the only time my friend and I set the difficulty lower than hard in bg1&2 with a fighter/cleric and sorcerer (a good sorcerer is usually all that's required in my opinion) was when fighting Demogorgon. He was mean. I have however played most of SoD on core or hard but I've had to drop it to normal on some occasions which is great. The level cap (I know I can remove it but that's cheating) could be set a little higher in SoD, I reached it way too quickly because I try to do every side quest and explore every inch on the first playthrough. Hehehe, I like the persistence and indeed it'll be a glorious triumph : )
And would this not be "codfishrepublic," eh? ;-) A family friend told me, this was while back, that traveling to Iceland was super, but one should take a rug-sack full of money, and still one can hardly afford but toast and cod. (We Finns are bit of proles and all that) Since I do not evade my taxes... I am yet to make that trip, but do want to. From my perspective, I simply find it so encouraging and lovely that Icelanders did not accept this off-shore thing as "it happens anyway." You can change it from there, let's be optimistic and fluffy, eh?
Your Fallout examples are really fine!
I actually miss the choice of "good" or "evil" campaign as narrative choice, then and again. We are still ever so often train-shipped to binary choices in games, but forcing us to choose between rather a bad outcome, and another unpleasant outcome is these days supposed to represent more "sophisticated" storytelling. I cannot handle playing very evil deeds myself, but it's a great immersion choice for those who like it.
I love high fantasy RPG. On equal footing, I just tend to analyse the stories I encounter in other media, books or movies, and try to make conscious consumer choices (I am pro-bio, for example). I really am at loss why gaming as a cultural product or art-form could not be debated and analysed as any other without bleeding hearts?? Not everyone will want to join the fray, but also, it would be unnatural for me to switch off because it is "just a game." It's a game, nothing "just" about it.
I am not for censorship. A given game cannot appeal to everyone, but as some gamers get their immersion from GTA "laddishness", some others love BioWare for its "progressiveness." I actually defended release of GTA in Australia, but it is also right of a former sex-worker to have an opinion about it and try and change the world. Those two things really should co-exist peacefully, IMO.
Regarding "problematic content" - rape, incest, murder, torture, oppression of a group etc - I am actually neutral about it, except that since to me it is per default a heavy story device, I personally want to see it serve a narrative purpose compellingly and with certain self-awareness.
I am not fan of eroticized torture, without a strong narrative purpose, not least because torture is a terribly banal problem in real world. Have you played both DA: Inquisition and The Witcher 2 both? Just compare Leliana torture scene in the former, and the opening dungeon royal mistress torture scene in the latter. Maybe someone will enjoy a glimpse of a bare chest to be prodded with a hot iron, and marvel what an edgy and mature gameworld this is! It's not just enough for me, personally. Take Discworld by Pratchett. I doubt anyone loves those books just because, "coo, I can make Rincewind fall off the edge of the world, look at him go!" Sir Terry is funny and popular because he tells fables of the nature of man, and there is truth in what he tells.
Hope this illustrates where I am coming from! If I invite friends for dinner, bio is what they get and I promote it in an amiable, playful way (they think that getting bio-bouillon is sorta funny). When they invite me, if we shop beforehand together, I might give a hopeful glance here or there, and depending on their mood and money, they might choose to accommodate me, and their thoughtfulness elates me, but if not - their thoughtfulness still elates me.
Unity: I perso think (hope) that making all platforms open to each other is the best way to ensure that all input systems (M&KB, controller, touch-screen) get adapted end-user interface, and great original content is shared with maximum number of gamers. Besides Unity, I was quite excited to read that someone is looking into making consoles have the option of M&KB input. Ports are not always that great either way, but such innovation could prove very helpful there.
And that bloody Demogorgon!
Okei, I just snuffed his sonny, so I understand he shall be in a vengeful mood - but oh my, is that vengeance impressive! I got quite close at hard last time I did ToB, he was probably at last 15% of HP, but spotting my tuck-in-the-corner mages was the end of that... Oh the frustration! I am selfishly glad I am not only one who thinks that's one mean boss!!
