Polymorphing bugged in the new patch?

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
Hello :-)

I don't know if it is a bug or perhaps the developers meant it to be like this:

When you polymorph from one form to another form (not human) you will lose the extra spells gained from items, e.g. ring of wizardry.

What's the motive behind this? Anyone know?

    Bug. Polymorphing between non-human forms has been causing bugs like this since well back into the original games.

    Okay, great! Too bad they didn't fix it during the latest patch though :(
