'Create Party' question.

I'm about to start a 2.0 runthrough, and to mix it up a bit I thought it might be fun to add a second created character using the party creation option. I've never tried the multiplayer workaround for this in the past. Always just did single characters. I'll be using normal companions for the rest of the group.
So my question is this: How much does it really change things plot/dialogue wise?
I know the first created character is the 'Bhalspawn' for the purposes of the story. But from just running around candlekeep I'm already seeing some dialogue changes because I have a second character. For example, after getting attacked by an assassin, I no longer get dialogue choices from the monk that runs up. He just gives a quick warning and takes off.
Will this sort of thing be common as I go? If a second character is going to cost me dialogue choices, I'll probably skip it. Roleplay is more important to me than other considerations. On the other hand if its just a few minor conversations around Candlekeep I won't worry too much about it.
I suppose the related question is if a second character would mess up romance options for the main character. Any thoughts?

If you exclude those, it doesn't change squat. Generic characters have no special banters or responses or effects. They're just there.
