Game crashes whenever I click on 'Save Game'

Recently there was a patch to Bgee, in time for the new expansion, after installing this I loaded my current playthrough as normal after quicksaving a couple of times I decided to do a full save, but when I clicked on the 'Save Game' button on the pause menu the game crashed.

Now every time I attempt to save this way my game crashes, and I cannot use quicksave for the whole playthrough because I have multiple playthroughs and like to have at least a couple saves per playthrough in case one is corrupted or something gamebreaking happens, I have tried reinstalling the game, disabling the expansion, deleting all saves (after I backed them up) to create a new game, to see if it is the save files rather than the game, and verified game cache multiple times.

I have put a lot, and I mean a lot of hours into these playthroughs and I'm really not the most knowledgable when it comes to these kinds of issues, so I would be incredibly grateful for any help/advice that I am given. Thanks in advance :)

    Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I have been playing BGEE fine since the patch and all of a sudden now today, I go to load my recent playthrough and its not on the load list (yet in the save game folder in documents). So I saved a auto save like 10mins before I saved last night but then I can't save as the game crashes again. But only just started doing it, was fine playing it yesterday.

    Simply take the week off, and go through it in one sitting.
