Is there a downside for doing a duo-protagonist run of BG:EE, SoD, and BG2:EE?

I can't decide between Piro and Val'myr to run the games so I thought with the new party creator I'd do both. Is there any downside to this? I want to make Piro the lead so that she can romance either Rasaad or Anomen. I'd just do that by making sure she's in slot 1 during party creation, yes?

There can only be one "true" protagonist, game-mechanic wise (only 1 will be referred to as the Child of Bhaal, game-over when dead, etc.) but there is nothing stopping you from having two custom characters in your part and RPing them any way you like.

You can also add the innates for their specific alignment through EEKeeper, should you want them both to be like a CHARNAME in the Innate department.

Yeah for sure you can EEKeeper them just as you need them, and as you think makes sense within your version of the story.

I plan for just Piro to be the Bhaalspawn and Val'myr and Imoen are tagging along after she leaves Candlekeep.

Main downside is less party dialogue.

In SOD at any point though are you forced to have the whole canon party? Destroying your own team

I always play with two-created characters. Only the character created in the first slot is the true protagonist. He will receive powers, dreams and romances. Also game will end upon his death only. This is set in stone at the creation. The second character is treated as a party member with no dialogue. Though you can always use your imagination.

I always thought it would make a really cool mod for your other created characters to have some simple interjections or dialogue with npc's. But i guess that would be extremely difficult

If you can work your way around it from a RP perspective, you can take an existing character and keeper them into whatever class / stats / portrait you want. You'll get their full dialogue but you can RP a different perspective on it. I've made someone I ordinarily wouldn't use like Nalia more interesting with this approach in the past.

Given how little dialogue Imoen has, she is the closest to a blank slate onto which players can just project.
