Technical issue at starting the game

On the very first box, my copy doesn't have the Play button, the text screen say "preload complete". Clicking on fix install and downloading whatever further files seems to get me no further. When the Play button does appear, all I get is a very small box telling me that there is a problem at Beamdog. Clicking on further details from there takes me to a page with a anthropomorthized dog telling me that page is unknown. Anyone else have this issue?

Where did you buy the game? I have no "play" button using either beamdogs client or steam

From Beamdog. I was able to create a party the very first time I tried it, but then the problems started.

I uninstalled and reinstalled and the problem persists. This is the message I get - Sorry man, I've searched high and low for /support/806?error=-1073741790&lang=en, and I just can't find it. - from Beamdog.

I got a very similar (if not identical, I can't remember the error code) message with the cartoon dog before my game crashed completely and now I can't even get that far (again, after uninstall/reinstall).

The client will say "preload complete" if it doesn't see baldur.exe in the game folder. I would recommend going into the games folder and deleting the 766.beam and 766.status files.

I seem to have resolved the issue. My Norton's security was objecting to the .exe file. It seems to work now (knock wood).
