New DLC, Time to a new playthrough, Need Help/Insight

Just noticed a new DLC was released. I haven't bought it yet because i heard there was some gamebreaking bugs, but i thought it was an good excuse to start a new BG:EE charecter, to give Beamdog some time to iron out the worst of the bugs. My plan is to take the charecter through all the way to ToB. I want to play a theif and dual it to mage, because i hate relying on Imoen and potions. I want to know if anybody has some suggestions to when i should dual. To my knowledge i would be able to get a 100 find traps and pick locks, 95 detect illsusion and 4x Backstab at level 9. But with the new DLC i was wondering if it would be better to go on till 13 for that 5x Backstab and more theif skill points. So any suggestions would be appreciated. Will it hamper my mage levels in BG:EE 2?

Also, i understand that alot of thin skinned Bhallspawns have run amok as of late, so i would like to apoligize to anyone being offended by my butchering of the english language, i'm not a native speaker.

IF you intend to go to Thief 13/ Mage X you will be dual-classing around the beginning of SoA - and thus can learn scrolls and cash in quests to regain your class back relatively quickly.

Doing Thief 9/Mage X will allow you to reclaim your thief skills by the end of SoD easily, even with a full party.

Personally I would do T9/Mx because it allows you to reach the max mage level regardless of your dual-class which is nice. and the 5x backstab is neither here nor there. Unless you specifically wish to use for thief/mage for backstabbing and general sneakiness the additional thief points are useful.

It is up to you frankly. Buy the game regardless of the 'gamebreaking' bugs, they will be patched soon enough.

Well i'm bying it no matter what. But if im not able to get max level with mage by going 13 theif, its off the table, i just thought the 5x backstab would be fun, because i love me some invis+mislead cheese, but not at the cost of mage levels. And i guess 4x vs 5x doesn't make a huge difference in the big picture. But thank you for your time and input

I'd further stress that there is no difference between a level 29 mage and a level 31 mage apart from 2 HLA's, so it is a matter of "easy first half of BG2" or "Slightly Less easy"
