Do be warned, if you're playing SoD and have not gone very far, the following screen has a major journal spoiler in it.
The issue is that despite not doing either of the tasks presented, the main entry Important Events is listed in the journal as (Finished). It should not be displayed as (Finished) until the two tasks have been met.
