Cannot Keep Connection

I was very happy today: I got three of my best friends together all in the same room for the first time in months. We wanted to play Baldur's Gate: EE together, and we're hoping for a full playthrough. However, five hours later and we are still unable to remain connected to each other.
I forwarded all the ports that people seem to think work. They could find my game in the list, but could not connect. I got us all onto Hamachi together. They could direct connect to me, but could not remain in the game. I've read every guide about getting multiplayer to work with EE and I've tested Hamachi and know that it's working fine.
Disappointingly, we've had to give up for today. It looks like this might be a problem released with the new expansion; can anyone confirm this? I want to make sure I can get this problem fixed and convince my friends to try again. Thank you in advance.
