SPOILERS Please spoil them for me in this thread

Please give me a brief synopsis of SOD including the finale. I want honest opinions about the writing because there is a storm surrounding this game and I wonder how much of it is true, because the trans tokenism is pretty on point.

The trans tokenism isn't on point, just forget all the bs you've read and go play the game.

There is a difference between quality of writing and how good/logical the main plot is. If you look at BG 2 for example, the main plot does not really make much sense some of the time, but it is carried by the narration and the voice acting.

Please clarify if you are interested in the plot or the quality of the writing.

Siege of Dragonspear's story does not feel preachy if that is what you are worried about. Play the game! Spoiling the story might take away from the enjoyment.

    Synopsis including ending here
The Shining Lady is gathering an army for a crusade. Baldur's Gate and other cities are forced into war with the crusade. She also ties to assassinate you (and Imoen) which makes you suspect she might be another sibling of yours seeking to start a war of sacrifice (just like Saravok did). As you march towards the crusade stronghold of Dragonspear Castle you explore 3-4 locations per chapter, gather allies, solve quests and discover dungeons with loot in them.
It turns out the Shining Lady is not a Bhaalspawn but just an aasimar who wants to open a portal to hell and free the innocent souls trapped there. For that she needs your divine blood. She's also lawful good. Some among her followers have other less noble reasons to open the portal to hell.
Maybe she was mislead, maybe too optimistic but her plan didn't work. You conquer her castle and when you reach the portal it opens allowing her to invade hell anyway with almost no remaining army. When you reach her all soldiers are already dead and she's facing the devil (Belhifet) alone. You destroy him forever allowing you to return back to the material plane and close the portal. The Lady escapes justice by remaining in hell or by dying horribly there. Your army has barred the portal chamber until you close the portal and won't even speak to you out of fear but when you emerge victorious there's a great celebration.
Epilogue: After the celebration you have a dream of killing a demon in the hallway but it turns out to be the young (and notoriously annoying) noble Skie Silvershield under an illusion spell. Everyone sobers up and you are arrested, put on public trial and thrown to jail back in Baldur's Gate. Belt helps you escape the prison with the help of some of your old friends lead by Imoen but you walk right into an ambush.
By the way the ambush was set up by Irenicus, who was the real killer of Skie. He used the dagger from Durlag's Tower to prevent her from ever being resurrected.
