The functionality is already in the 2.0 code. We just need to make an easy way to get the zip loaded up - we're hoping to have that in the first iOS release, but I can't promise.

Tentatively it would work like the IWD import, where we give the file a special extension that you can "open" in iOS

3) Could this .zip archive method be a way to finally enable modding on iOS? Maybe install a bunch of mods on the desktop and have a way to bundle up /override and dialog.tlk into such an archive, and side-load it in to "update" the app? Because if you guys could finally provide a way to make that happen you would make a lot of people very happy (and probably spur a bunch of new iOS sales).

@Cerevant has already hit on the main thing here, but I'd also like to point out that this is the only way it could work. Tweaks Anthology, by itself, has over (and this is an actual calculation) ~4x10^50 different possible configurations for BG2EE alone. Setting up your own mod loadout and making your own custom DLC package from that is really the only way you could so this.

Thats great for mobile but... Shit for desktop gamers.
I still don't understand why the versions are different... And tho I get it why individual devs couldn't talk freely.... Beamdog as a company could have.

Saying that steam handles dlc badly is a poor excuse. And a lie.
Take for example the last expansion for endless legends "Shifters". I bought it yesterday... It did NOT make me download the entire game again.
Same with all DLC I have bought... No game EVER have made me download everything again each time an expansion comes out.

Ps: How can i get the beamdog edition? It was said that if i bought it on steam and i have passed the point of returning i can get a key for the beamdog version.

The point all this time is... We shouldn't need modmerge!!!!
How would you feel if you buy a shirt in a store and find out it feels weird, it's not working as intended. The fabricant tells you it's because of the store, but if you use a special detergent it will be alright. Just mind if you wash it with other colored clothes... (Analogy for complex mods like BGEET)
But in the other store, the same shirt (or at least they claim it's the same shirt) doesn't need the special detergent...

This is bull****

Also all the excuses sound more and more like lies to me... You just said that the beamdog edition forces you to download everything again... And that the steam and gog versions were made with that shitty zip because they didn't want us to download everything again... That doesn't make sense.
That steam manages DLC that way. That's a lie.
That they started to develop modmerge to fix the issue... And yet Scott stated he did it in his free time.
that it was made that way so mobile gamers could use mods... Cool... Then why the desktop version have that??????? (Hell it even has the stuff for IAP... Which makes no sense)

This whole deal smells fishy to me...

And when a dev answers he looks like he doesn't want to make any official statements
Well, I wouldn't expect a press release about this, so but I'm official enough.
Also this:
It is also worth mentioning that this feature could be pretty useful for modders:

The DLC loader supports multiple .zip files. So you could package your own mod (or set of mods) and use the zip to install that package on another computer or mobile device. Including tlk files. (DLC zip files are processed in alpha order, common resources overriding the ones from previous zips)
Then why beamdog's version doesn't have this "feature"?

This whole deal is making me lose my trust in beamdog...

Also, why would i like the beamdog version? Downloading it all again is no problem for me. I just want to be able to play BGEET when it's out and with other mods with no problems, with no hassles.
