Thoughts on this Party

I'm going for a banter-heavy party, with good interactions. Yoshimo is great for the story (and if I recall correctly, he has a comment for almost every quest), Jaheira will probably be the romance option, as it's the best written and I haven't experienced it in a while. Minsc and Jan are hilarious and Aerie feels like a good compliment to the team as a Cleric, a witch for Minsc and for the love triangle.

However, I'm missing a slot for the rotating NPCs in their specific quests (Valygar, Nalia, Cernd, etc…) I could send Yoshimo to the Copper Coronet during those and come and pick him up in-between quests…

And what class for charname do you think complements well this party? It's a little magic heavy so perhaps a Fighter of some sort?

    I guess you need another melee character.
    I would suggest a shadowdancer dualed at level 9 into a fighter, with all the skillpoints put into hide and move silently. That's a really good melee character, and the extra shadowdancer abilities are very useful to complement that, giving you extra safety if needed (low life? no problem, I just hide and run away), and extra burst with the backstab ability.
    You could try F/C (multi or dual, both are very good) as well, it's a powerhouse and a beast as a melee character.

    Berserker9 -> Mage will cover up all the extra melee damage AND tank needs for your party. Put him in front, memorize a bunch of stoneskin, blur and mirror image and you are golden.

    I'd make an Paladin Inquisitor with this set up. You'll get the extra tank plus dispel and true sight.

    Or get rid of Minsc, pick up Keldorn and make Charname something cool like a Blackguard.

    A blackguard together with Keldorn?
    Are we RPing or we just going for a powerful party and/or cool party?

    Tank or melee maybe, something that doesn't have mage abilities as you seem to have that covered, also your thieving seems pretty covered, so id chose something that uses a shield. Inquisitor, like mentioned would probably be good for the insta dispel but with that many mage/cleric things happening already your even covered for that. The only thing lacking is a melee or tank type character really.

    Or have aerie go full damage with all her spells, you be a buffer/ fig-cleric combo and use jah for your druid buffing/summons/semi tanking+dps. But jah can easily be sling ranged and the buffer and aerie have some of the missing buffs the druid doesn't have.

    Since you have Imoen who can take care of your thieving needs, Jan is kinda on the lurch. I will remind you that IMO the best armors for mages are Robes of Vecna and Asly. Elven Chainmail so I like the idea of having only 2 arcane casters since the other robes, even arch-magi ones don't provide enough effects for them to worthwhile. At least for me ^^

    But hey you wanted a CHARNAME class to fit with them, not a party evaluation, so here's my answer:
    Arcane is more than covered by 3 users
    Divine is used by 2 users, both use spells from the druidic side
    One decent front liner, with another as possible back-up

    Conclusion:
    A front-liner with priest spells should round out your party, so one of the following: Cleric, Fighter/Cleric or Ranger/Cleric.

    Ranger/Cleric is fav of mine, I just rolled a 99 total point of them since their min is pretty high, so go for that I say ^^ Multi-class of course

    Can change minsk-eroni into a ranger/cler if your not rping and are okay with using like 10+ wis books on him right when you get him. I do this some plays to make him more interesting when ive played his ranger only class to death.

    I think I decided to go on a different route:

    I'm gonna switch Aerie for Anomen (because Aerie isn't annoying enough, I guess), and play with a Skald.

    That way I have a two arcane casters, two thieves (one that advances in levels), two priests (one cleric and one druid) and three fighters.

    With a Skald I can fill in where needed: be an extra bow or an extra sword, cast some mage spells or just sing. And I can concentrate on being the charismatic leader! ;)

    The bonus is, if I recall correctly (as I rarely use Anomen), him and Jan on the same party is pretty amusing. I might even have him fail his Knighthood test.

    What do you think?

    Jan and Anomen have some rather entertaining banters. No clue about Anomen after failing his test, I've never done that. I hear he gets less annoying though.

    That banter is one of my favs, nice work balancing the party ^^

    The extra Wiw on Ano is worth passing the test imo, let alone the personality change that comes with it :)
    Btw I recommend blade over skald :smiley:

    You want banter kick Jahira for haerdalis. Minsc will grab aerie for witch. Haer'dalis will try steal her from charname. Jan will throw random things.

    I'm actually finding an edwin haer viconia tri way really comical....

    I know viconia also blasts Jahira. She also blasts minsc. Jahira left me again for harper hold so I'm missing that but I'm still doing full clear on chapt 1... good grief this takes forever... I have Jan haer anomen and Korgan left not to mention their side quests.. and the others side quests...

    Some.f the bickering hilarious. Iirc it forcede to tell Jahira to knock it off to peruse viconia for romance quest...

    I almost wonder what an edwin vic Jan Jahira haer charname would do...

    Or a minsc Jan aerie vic haer char... that would be very interesting since I read haer tries and gets aerie and minsc adopts her as a witch. ..

    I've never tried jan but if he's anything lime a Dragonlance gnome it should be fun.

    Heck anomen minsc haer malechar Jan aerie should be boatloads. ...

    CharName is a Pali that dual wields Bastard swords and axes
    Keldorn For him using the Holy Avenger and Halberds
    Dual class Saravok into a Thief who dual wields long swords
    Valyger dual wields Katanas & Scimitars
    Anomen who dual wields Flails and Hammers
    Nalia who basically shoots bows and casts spells
