AI not working BG2

in Troubleshooting
I started a new game with characters imported from a siege of dragonspear save. At first the AI wouldn't work at all, now after turning it off and on 100 times my guys will sometimes auto-attack but at other times they stand there and do nothing. I can't get them to cast spells, no matter what AI selection I choose (I'd preferably like to use the new AI). My thief will find traps, that seems to be the only thing that works.

    And yes, before anyone says it the AI is turned on

    If you go into their Character Records ---> Customize ---> Script, set it to "None", then hit "Done" so it saves, then go back in and set it to whatever script you had it set to again. Sometimes they need to be "rebooted" so to speak. It's annoying but does happen.
