Is there a way to always highlight items on the ground? (ie - pressing TAB)

I'm playing BG2EE: Shadows of Amn (with the 2.0.1.2 patch). I use the TAB button quite often. Sometimes, I don't have patience to pass the mouse over everywhere on the screen. BG1 had a magnifying-glass button that functioned as if you were to hold down the TAB button constantly. I don't see a way to do that with BG2EE: SoA. I do not like the Ctrl-4 functionality. I want to find traps and such. I like what the TAB button does, highlighting chests and items on the ground and such.
I have a big ol' one ounce lead sinker from my tackle box sitting on my TAB button. Silly, yes. Surely there is a more elegant way, perhaps through a baldur.ini tweak or maybe through the use of a mod. I would love some help. Your information is very appreciated and I thank you for the courtesy.
