Help importing BG:EE1 save in 2.0

Hello everyone. A friend and I are trying to start new MP game of BGII:EE from our previous BG:EE save, but ever since updating to 2.0 we see no saves to choose from when importing a character from a saved game. (Skipping SoD as I hear its quite buggy in mp) I tested this out about a month ago on 1.3 and there was no issue, so it seems to be a 2.0 problem. We've tried:
  • Creating a new final save in BG:EE v2.0 to import
  • copying the final saves to the single player save folders in BG:EE and BGII:EE
  • Reinstalling BGII:EE 2.0
I'm pretty much out of ideas and we're stuck until we can figure this out. I have the steam version so I cannot rollback to 1.3 just to import as far as I know. Any help would be appreciated.

    bg2:ee looks inside bg1:ee's save folder for valid saves. you don't need to do any manual copying over anymore.
