Neera's quest - spider legs

in Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear
I cleared out the spider cave before getting Neera into my party. Now she wants me to get a the legs of a seven legged spider. I enter the cave, Neera is all "Okay, let's do this!" but all there's left is a couple of beetles.

Am I just screwed out of the quest or what?

    Your cannot obtain the item now. I've had the same problem. Only thing that you can do now is to cheat. There was a thread on this forum about that, but I can't seem to find it.

    Seems lame, though, since you're literally forced into that area (but not necessarily that specific cave) before you can recruit Neera.

    It can be easily missed as it may not be easy to see if there's a pile of dead spider bodies lying around. Need to hit the Tab key when you kill the spiders for it to show up. As others have said, if you don't pick them up, they disappear when you leave the map.

    You can spawn it in the console using C:CreateItem("bdspider").

    It's supposed to be a permanent drop (so you can go back for it if you miss it the first time) and is slated to be fixed in the next update IIRC.

    EDIT: The 2.1 patch went live today and should fix this issue.

    Looks like it's not retroactive unfortunately.
