Using Turn Undead effectively with AI on

Is there any secret to using Turn Undead with AI (advanced) enabled? The only way I can use it is to completely turn AI off and select it. Otherwise, my cleric immediately switches back to his weapon and never tries it. Ideally, I'd like him to try it once and THEN switch back to weapon.
Ideas?
