Unable to equip melee weapon?

It just goes right back to my bow everytime i try to equip a melee weapon on any character... is this a bug?

Remove your bow from the slot and put it in your inventory. Equip the melee weapon.

Thanks - I have to do that now instead of using quick slots for weapons??

It's the AI script. Just go in the character sheet and modify it if you don't like

It's probably the "Prefer Ranged Weapon" setting. If you have that set, then switch to melee in a fight, your character will continue fighting with the melee weapon, then switch back to bow when the fight is over. I actually like it that way. It eliminates the mistake I always make of forgetting to switch back after a fight and having my character rush into battle in the next encounter.
