SoD stuck on "Checking Files"

Game has been playing fine for 1 week. Pressed the update button today and it wont start anymore.
I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, and it still wont start.
It checks for files and comes up to about 50% before the grey line that indicates progress disappears and nothing more happens
