Ending (spoilers) - really dissapointed...

Hello. Im love the Baldurs Game, but this part (Siege of Dragonspear) have something good things... but im dissapointed also a lot with many things, but i just want to say one of them...

I hear it this part of game is "connection" between first and second BG game and i just waiting like idiot for Irenicus, at least how i get to tombs where Irenicus "tested" myself... at the ending i got simply video who present some character ?? Who Idk... (because voice was not same like Irenicus (I think so)) i guess they just nocked me and bring me to those tombs, but as i said, i want more story about "connection" with Irenicus.

    I forgot about the "blurring the lines between consciousness and dreaming" part – it adds some credence/context to the mechanic Irenicus employs in SoD, which is a nice.

    I don't remember anything about tombs in the originals, OP, but I agree that the ending felt a little too abrupt. Would've liked to see Irenicus make an appearance using his BG2 avatar or something.

    I'm completely fine with the crossing-over and an abrupt kidnap-ending in spirit of SoA intro movie. What I'm not ok with is Hephernaan and his motives.

    I really didn't expect the final fight to be quite so...sudden. When I got inside the tower inside Hell, I thought, this will be likely be the final dungeon, but a dungeon nonetheless. So I was preparing to fight through a fair bit to reach the end.
    Much to my surprise that whilst on the lift waiting after the last wave of enemies that it would take me to the chamber of the final boss. Wasn't expecting that, and thus wasn't buffed or prepared in anyway.
    Even during the fight, I didn't even think the demon was the final boss due to the seemingly ease of taking him down. (Played on Core difficulty). Attempted to use a few magic missiles but seemed Magic Resistant. So I just pelted him with a few Arrows and Bullets.
    I have to admit, Sarevok was a far more interesting fight, and even Aec'Letec was more challanging. But maybe it was because I had Caelar fight for me instead of against me. I don't know.

    I liked the very last meet up outside the sewer/cave and the mist to dream sequence was fine- you imagine you were drugged and molested terribly like Taken or a North Korean woman forcibly repatriated from China. After all Irenicus had plaything clone girls for his pleasure and coldly tore apart poor Daneria and stutter elf in front of your friends- it is not something they can depict well and and dreamy end sequence has you create the terror yourself.

    The trail and prison sequence and final chat with Corein were boring and lacked enough chat options to make me feel properly sullen unrepentant and murderious though. It would have been nice to brag about murdering that one unpopular general and also expounding on killing many flaming fist in the past but such ruthless nastiness was unable to be role played as a proper EMO thespian in the trail or too Corwin. Even as they call me a baddy in return.

    In retrospect they should have just done one generic movie / cartoon/ picture sequence after the devil is slain one coul be good guy one could be bad guy and save the last forty five minutes of the game which was a complete railroad of boredom with generic chat choices. The time saved could have been used to make a few more fun encounter areas or even another map

    Yeah, I wish Avernus was expanded a bit more. A full dungeon in the tower would've been cool IMHO.

    So what's the problem? He's a devil servant of Belhifet, his motive is to help his master to open portal to prime plane. Maybe you are simply dissapointed because you expect him to be main antagonist like Sarevok or Irenicus. But he never acts like that.

    Oddly enough, I am far more disappointed with the lack of choice when confronting the devil. I was very interested in working with him, rather than fighting him but I can see how that wouldn't fit into the story.

    Regardless, they could have simply made him give up before you slay him as has been done many times before. At that point, you might have come to a pact between the two of you, such as leaving everyone else's souls in hell and getting a nice magical item or a new patron out of it. Alternatively; it would be nice to help another devil to take control of the domain in question, or at least that part of the Hells. I was quite sad that Trix, or whatever that other devil was called, didn't offer to make you his new master instead of just leaving angrily or playing a silly game with you.

    The problem with Hephernaan wasn't so much that he isn't the final boss but that we don't know his motivation, we don't get to experience his side of the story. Apart from the evil and insidious 'grand vizier' trope, we don't know anything about him even though he plays a very important part. (I'm not saying it's a good story, as I do think it's shallow and lame but it could have been better.) I must say I find Hephernaan far more interesting then whatever the crusade's leader's name was.

    Speaking of Hephernaan; it would seem that Belhifet's actions could very well be out of character for a devil (as in: lawful evil). Though I never truly understood the 'official' definition of it, I'm confident I remember that devils always keep their word. Now granted, we don't know what Hephernaan was offered for his willing service but going by the most simple explanation I'd say he was promised either power, rank or influence under Belhifet's rule and it seems to me he never got any of that.
