NPC Recommendations: I've only ever played solo. I am doing a completionist playthough now :)

Just finished taking my PC through BG:EE and SoD. I didn't really have a chatty party in BG:EE, probably due to the people I was playing with. I played with 5 and think I want to play with 4 this go around.
The only "cheats" I use are Removing Free Action on FoA +5, and Adding in Cloak of Balduran, which I won't be using until the end of SoA.
PC:
Level 10 Berserker
Dual Class Cleric @ Level 13
Human
Neutral Evil, rolled a 94
19 Str
19 Dex
19 Con
11 Int
21 Wis
11 Cha
***** in Flail
* in Warhammer
* in 2 weapon fighting
What is a good party combo for 3-5 players? Some that come to mind....
(Jan) Imoen
Serevok
Edwin?
Viconia
Keldorn
Heir Dalis

*cough*
Well, if you're in it for the dialog, it's hard to make recommendations because it's all about personal preference. Some people like Jan, others think he is a moronic one-trick-pony that is funny for a whole three seconds at best. Some people think Anomen is a self-righteous, whiny blowhard, others like him.
If it's about POWER, though, you pretty much have it with the NPCs you already mentioned.
Sarevok, Edwin, Viconia, Keldorn are likely the best NPCs around, though neither Jan nor Haer'Dalis are too far behind (assuming you like their classes). Keldorn doesn't quite belong, though, as he's also a self-righteous twat (but at least not whiny) and will not like what the others are doing, how they look, who they are, or generally how they breathe and blink their eyes.
Missing from the list is Aerie, arguably the best all-around caster in the series. She'll also melt your heart and (potentially) your pants. Some dislike her traumatized demeanor, personally I find it's at least something interesting about her.
Another one you didn't mention is Dorn, who's both interesting and powerful. Also rugged and handsome enough to bend the straightest arrow. Will require wading through copious amounts of corpses, though, that isn't for everyone.
Hexxat is the enfant terrible, mostly because of her borderline atrocious dialog and frequently bug-riddled quests. She's also high-maintenance on so many levels, but will reward you with stats that make you question just who's supposed to be the god-spawn here. Sadly her class isn't spectacular.
Neera is for the gambler in you, though she does grow into ludicrous levels of power late in the game when enough items almost guarantee a non-detrimental wild surge. Spam your lvl9 spells all day every day, now with 99.99% less cow falling from the sky.
That's about it, I think. The rest of the bunch are interesting to talk to and tag along with, except for Valygar who unfortunately was born without a personality, and Cernd, who traded his in for pocket mulch and level 5 veganism.
Keldorn is only there to make use of Carsomyr and I'd probably get rid of him first as a carsomyr + flail of ages might be overkill.
Edwin is cool but I can't imagine needing more than 1 mage so I'll probably keep him or Jan around just until I get imoen back.
I've always wanted to play a bard, blade, just not as a PC. I usually main FMT or Inquisitors.
Viconia or Aerie I guess just for the romance and the cleric spells.
What's wrong with 13 dual class? I want the extra half attack. 9 apr doing 48 dmg a swing is higher dmg than a 10apr solo FMT
How's that for ownage
But that's just the min-maxer in me talking, don't feel too bothered by powergaming theories especially if you don't play on highly modded setups. Your game, your choices.
For the most interesting conversations - Jan is entertaining as is the dwarf Korgan along with Mazzy - bring along Rassad for some fun dialogue with Edwin along with Viconia.
Hexxat is interesting to bring along some of the dialogue depending on your party composition should be fun - bring along Edwin, Korgan and Viconia if you have her - along with Nalia and Neera - or some combination of them.
I say experiment to see what happens with the NPCs - any combination will take you more or less through to the end of the game - its really about the interactions between them along with the quests and the romance.
Try for a standard team at first - you know cleric, fighter of some kind, mage, thief and then decide what else you want to fill in the last 2 spots and pick your NPCs from them - as you play with them - you can then customize your team to be more melee, more arcane, more something - and of course more evil, neutral or good.
You'd take Viconia only for the romance or you have a generally evil group. Anomen is a slightly worse cleric (missing on 2 extra spells after his test) and infinitely better fighter plus holy spells are better than unholy...while Viconia will just stand there throwing a single stone every round.
I always packed her before, now I'm always going with Ano. I like warrior heavy parties with casters playing supporting role in buffing and removing protective spells from opposing mages rather than spellslingers.
