Class: Multiclassed Fighter-Thief
Race: Half-Orc (+1 STR and CON)
Alignment: Neutral Good or Chaotic Good (so that you can use Drizzt’s equipment)
Abilities (minimum total 87): STR 19, DEX 18, CON 19, INT 10, WIS 3, CHA 18
It is good to have 10 minimum in INT so that with the tome in BG1 you can reach BG2 with INT 11, which should allow you to deal with Mind Flyers without dying too easily. If you get a total score above 87, put the remaining points in WIS. A score of 92 (or more) would be ideal so that you can have at least 8 in WIS at the start of the game, which means 10 with the two WIS tomes of BG1 and therefore no lore penalty.
Proficiency points at level 1: 2 in scimitars and 2 in dual wielding
Thief Skills at level 1: everything in open locks, to be able to open all chests on second floor of candlekeep hostel (and therefore to get the potion of clarity and the star sapphire).
Sell the star stone, buy two scimitars, an armor, a helmet, a bow and as many arrows as you can carry.
When you are out of Candlekeep, recruit Imoen, Xzar, Montaron, Jaheira, Khalid. Your first mission: to kill Drizzt to get his amazing armor and scimitars +3.
Go to the map where Drizzt is, talk to him and let him kill all the gnolls. Do not speak to him when he is done, just surround him with your 5 companions so that he cannot move anymore. Stay as close as you can from the group and reform your party to remove them one by one. They should not move when they react to you ‘’firing’’ them. Take a few steps back, drink a haste potion (some of your companions should have one) and start shooting arrows at Drizzt. If you have positioned your companions properly he won’t be able to move. Most of the time you will not touch him because of his AC, but your critical hits will hurt him. At some point he will cast a dispelling spell on you to get rid of your haste. Right after that, drink the clarity potion. This will prevent his upcoming Charm spell to work on you (that would end the game, as you are alone having removed all companions). After that all you need to do is to check regularly in your inventory when you are about to run out of arrows and replace them with new ones.
It should take you about half-an-hour to kill Drizzt in Legacy of Bhaal mode. You will not only get his equipment but also 12,000 XP, which will make you reach F/T level 3/4, a good start to survive LoB mode. On the other hand you will lose a few points in reputation, which you can get back by donating money in a temple. When leveling up, put 5 points in open locks to reach 70 (so that you can open most of chests in BG1), and everything else in Move Silently (no need to put points in Hide in Shadows, there are threads somewhere explaining why). Use your proficiency point to max Dual Wielding. Later you should put your next two proficiency points in Katanas, in order to be able to use one of the best BG2 weapons: Celestial Fury, available soon after reaching Athkatla.
This build is great with companions. To play solo in LoB mode, a Fighter-Mage-Thief class (race: Elf) is better.
