fjmelafjmela Member Posts: 3
Hello everyone, I am a huge Fan of this game since I was a tennager...( NOT ANY MORE!!) sorry in advance for my english I am from Argentina.

I wanted to know if there is any solution to this problem that I have with my game. I am playing my old copy of BG2 and for some reasson the NPC markers are not showing...
I am playing the game in a new computer, with win 7 64 bits. The problem only occures ing BG2 because in BG1 this problems does not exists.

I also downloaded a new original copy and install all the BGT mods, its great to play in full resolution and all the staff... bot the problem still persists.. I DONT SEE THE GREEN MARKERS!!! it is annoing because I was used to play in that way... no its imposible to see tiny creatures at the map...

Is there any solution to this problem? does anyone had the same problem?

I dont know how to attach a file to the forum, but if someone can explain I will be glad to show... (its nothing strnage just imagine your BG screen with no circles under your NPC.

A final note is that the "Game Options" are correctly stter to max data in this aspect. Marker feedback and locator feecback.

Thanks very much!

Haven't heard of this problem before, and can't think of any obvious cause. I would suggest uninstalling everything, reinstalling only BG2 vanilla and see if the circles appear then.

I have already done that. This only happends when I play BG2 in my new computer. With win 7 and LCD 32" TV... when I play the same version of the game in a notebook it works perfectly...

That is actually a setting within options ---> Gameplay ---> Feedback. Ensure that the appropriate bar is all the way to the right.

Do the green markers display when you run the unmodified game? First, you need to identify if this is an issue with the core game or your mods.

Also, check out the mod called "1PP." One of the components alters those green circles. I have no idea if it will help, but it might. (I also seem to remember something about how the circles are rendered differently than the sprites).

    Buena suerte!

Did you install your game in the default location, I know Windows 7 can get picky if you install games into what it thinks are restricted areas.

Try re-installing in a different area, something like C:\RPG\BG2. I doubt it will make a difference but may be worth trying.

I have the same bug as well, but its not just the ellipsoids, its the map markers, the portrait selection squares, the destination markers and the click and drag selection box will not show or work. Altering the position of the options slider does nothing. There is no fog of war in both the map screen and the normal game view.

I bought the game, yesterday. Downloaded it, patched it and the bug was present from startup.

Of note I once had something similar to this happen ages ago while trying out various mods in BG2 which required a full installation to fix.

Seemingly at the same time the characters (both mine and non-party npcs) are having issues targeting anything, with attacks stopping mid fight and party members needing to be moved to force another attack reinitiated via clicking at a distance. The party member will then close and attack once only.

The party scripted AI is seemingly broken as well.

I had problems with the ring and also things in general rendering incorrectly, however I fixed it by turning on the compatibility option 'disable visual themes'. I am running Windows 7 x64.

    to do this,
-right click on the EXE file (baldur.exe, wherever you installed it), click 'properties'
-click the 'Compatibility' tab or similar
    -check 'Disable visual themes'

    I hope this fixes things.
