FIFA 13
Since people are making topics about recent releases, lets see how many people actually like sports games around here.
I went out to get this one yesterday. The last time I played a FIFA seriously was FIFA 95 (last sports game I played seriously was NBA JAM for the Mega Drive), so I shouldn't have a problem with the latest FIFA only being a slight upgrade of the previous years release.
I got really annoyed that the game didn't come with a manual, so I have no idea what the hell most modes in the game are. What exactly is the season pass for?
Nevertheless, I started a game in career mode (I think) where I made a player to lead Benfica to glory! First game, a friendly match, I actually managed to somehow score a goal with a header! My team lost though.
I have a really hard time defending in this game because the players switch around so much and when I realize it the player that I'm controlling is actually running away from the ball leaving an awesome highway straight to the goal for the other team's attackers.
Still, I scored a goal on my debut match for Benfica! The next day the coach put me on the loan list.
Wtf, what an asshole, the guy clearly doesn't know a thing about football. The next friendly game he didn't even put my player in the line-up (they actually won without me).
So then my player got transferred to Lierse (sp?) in the Belgium league, where 12 games in I have already lead my new team to 4th place (counting from the bottom), all this despite every one else in my team sucking! Still, I've scored 4 goals already in the Belgium league. One of them was actually a penalty kick and I currently have 100% efficiency in scoring penalty kicks, which make me 50% better than Cardozo, the attacker that the moron coaching Benfica decided to keep instead of me!
The coach of Portugal's national team is another idiot, he still hasn't summoned me to play for Portugal in the World Cup qualifiers (they've been winning without me though).
I've checked what Lierse wants me to accomplish this season and I'm on my way to achieve all of their goals excepts assists. Why the **** do they want me to make assists? I'm the star of the team, the others guys need to pass the ball to me!

But it is somewhat to be expected - the developers of FIFA add new additional content every year, it's incredible they have the game with that many teams.
Of course, no soccer game will ever be complete until they add my hometown's team, in the third league in my country XD
Hey, don't look weird on me - My hometown's Team still hit the UEFA cup in the 90s! Sure, they lost catastrophically (ironically @Tanthalas, against Benfica) but it's still a team with a tradition ever since 1923! That's older than Real Madrid, it's something no? XD
As for my pro. He was player of the month twice, first in goals in both the league and cup. I even started getting drafted for the national team and managed to score 2 goals for Portugal!
At the end of the season I went back to Benfica to finally lead the team to glory. 2 days later I was put on the loan list again. WTF? It was even more ridiculous because a few days later Barcelona actually made a transfer offer for me and Benfica's coach thinks I'm not good enough to stay? /sigh
How many seasons will I have to play outside Benfica before the game lets me play on the team that I want?
Despite these quirks I'm having a lot of fun playing FIFA though I have to say that I'm really surprised that a franchise that's been around for some 20 years is missing a lot polish in the interface and commentary sections.
I mean, in the Belgium league I didnt notice this, but in the few days I was in Benfica I noticed that not all the Portuguese teams had official names. One of the main reasons why I got FIFA13 over PES13 was because I could play with official rosters, and seeing this is a major letdown for me. Its even more annoying that there apparently isn't any option to edit team/manager/player names so I can fix it myself.
But I think the worse is the voiced commentaries at the start of each game. A lot of times they don't make any sense. At one point I was 6th in the league and the commenters were saying (paraphrased): "With 75% of the league already complete the team is doing terribly with no wins in the seasoon yet", or when I was on a 6 games winning streak and they would say: "The team has been in terrible form lately".
