Import char from iwdee?

It possible to make my main a toon from iwdee?

My iwd stopped working in apr 15 and i havent played it since. but think i exported the char, sometime before it stopped working.

Can i use this on a bgate EE game, or is it not compatible?

I don't think you can import the actual character file.

I don't think it will work. Are you able simply just to recreate using EEKeeper?

No, it has never been possible to import or export characters between IWD and BG.

Why has your IWDEE stopped working?

If you can send us the character details I'm sure someone here can quickly recreate it in EE format for you.

    really useful information!

one button `find out more` goes to.....

Perhaps reinstall? Click the gear icon and click Repair Install.

You do know you are allowed to contact Beamdog support directly? But as @Rythgar says, it sounds most likely that a file is corrupted so a repair install might well fix things.

no the iwd and bg series are different versions of DnD rules so theyre not compatible

@Blackmoor IWD:EE and BG/2:EE are all the same game versions. You are probably thinking of IWD2 which is third edition.

    A save file'd be better.

Spells are not the same, so this cannot work. Reinstalling iwdee should work.

Then you needed to do a clean install. Use the Windows/Mac uninstall utilities. After that's done, make sure to actually delete the entire directory (more a thing on Windows). Restart your computer. THEN, do an install from the actual IWEEInstaller file.

Whatever the hell you did, you screwed your IWDEE directory.

ok ive achieved a partial success by adding the file : openAL32.dll to system32 folder.

I can now get into the game, but the chars move about like they are moving through treacle.

AM baffled as to how i played the game a whole year without this file....and then suddenly it stops working

    /confused

Bad joke. Windows updates don't touch program files.

openAL32.dll is a system file, not a program file.

Anyway, the Windows 10 update mucks up all the write permissions on program files, and fills working memory with crap causing games to slow down.

"One does not simply recognize the horrid state of Windows 10."

It takes a while to come to your senses and roll back to a previous version. Believe me, I've had similar crap to deal with when naively jumping at the opportunity to get a free version of Windows 10.

LOL, it's not like there's performance increases or anything. Oh, wait...
