Beamdog - A request regarding voicesets.

Would there be any chance you'll add the voicesets from Icewind Dale EE to the Baldur's Gate EE games?
Particularly "Male Fighter 5"?

I've never liked the voiceset options for the Baldur's Gate series, I have to admit. They just don't sound right for either a rookie adventurer or even an adventurer in their prime. Male Fighter 5 from IWD, however, nails what I want in the Scion of Bhaal: quick witted, charming, and very, very sarcastic. This is the main character of Baldur's Gate, after all, the same adventurer who has a snide comment or a frustrated rant for just about everyone they come across in BG and BG2.

I mean, don't get me wrong. Your new additions are great, particularly the ones provided by David Warner and Melissa Disney. But the males just don't have a good counterpart to Disney's "relaxed" voice. And Icewind Dale has so many great voicesets...

Well, that's a mod thing, for one. But two, there's currently a redmine issue dealing with this because using custom soundsets doesn't work in v2.1 yet: http://redmine.beamdog.com/issues/23231

Feel free to put in a feature request.

I'm the opener of that redmine.

I have a mod that loads the iwd voicesets in my awesome soundsets mods.

It may be working with SOD (use modmerge first if applicable).

I was actually getting selection sounds in a quick test with this one for some reason, but not with my other mods.

Feel free to try, it will have the voiceset you are talking about. Let me know if it works.

An option could be to hire new voice actors, for say 15-20 voicesets, with express purpose of being used for all the games. Charge us $4.99 for DLC.

    I'd buy it.

More sound sets, yes! I'd pay for well done, more varied sets.

I'd also really, really love to have the ability to use fan made sound sets completely again...

    Poke... poke...

But why would people pay for it when there's mods like yours?...

A couple reasons come to mind.

One, to do it legitimately (as Amber Scott says, these are professional voice actors and should have their work treated accordingly).

Two, it might just be me, but migrating new voicesets into the mobile versions is more problematic than the PC. I tried to put Female Relaxed and Male Commanding (Disney and Warner) onto my phone (may they officially come soon) and had no luck getting it to work. I really like having the game available on the phone - though the delay for the Android release of SoD is digging at me like a toothache.

I would buy it if they were well done and integrated officially.

Even though I make great mods with attention to detail, I'm just one guy.

I'd rather have someone else doing the hard work and officially supporting the feature.

Good points. Hadn't thought of those.

Yeah, I'm awaiting the iOS release, because I have BGEE on my iPad. I don't generally mod games on my iPad, so...in that sense, an official voiceset pack would be pretty cool.

    Fair enough.
