Daystar doing large damage with sunray (BG2)

Started to play the 2.0 (great job), but then a used the daystar sunray with a pure fighter level 11 against the elemental lich on bridge district. The lich suffered more than 1000 damage, from the ability description it should have done 14d6 of damage (84 damage, tops).
Easy kill, but a obviously a bug.

    Intentional, I think. Undead are normally immune to death effects so Sunray 'instakills' by dealing insane damage instead.
