Custom Portraits Not Showing Up

I've recently downloaded a lot of new portraits offline, converted them to .bmp files, named them 7 characters or less, all lower case, and was ready to see them in my baldurs gate game, but instead most of them turned into black empty portraits. I've tried everything I could think of. Help pls

    zip up and upload an example one that is not working and I'll (or someone) can take a look...

    @smeagolheart Nevermind, with a fresh mind I decided to run them through the bmp converter again and everything works!
