Alignment change

So, the hell part in SoA.

I need to know what triggers the alignment change when you're above TN. I don't remember how it worked in vanilla.

2 of my chaotic good dudes fell after placing the tears regardless of their choices. I usually leave the genie alive, I leave the peasant alive (i always solo), I don't take the cloak and I slay the dragon but I still fall?

What gives?

I believe you fail the Wrath and Pride tests.

Wrath:If you give in to Wraith Sarevok's taunts and attack him with hate, you surrender to the essence within and are infused with evil forevermore. If you refuse to attack him out of spite, and pity him, he attacks you anyway, but you retain your alignment.

Pride:do not accept the flattery from the demon and do not accept to slay the dragon. Question why the dragon has to be attacked. In the end the dragon does not need to be killed. And should not be killed if you want to resist the evil within.

    Ty for the fast reply.

well i guess that makes sense. Failing only one out of the five triggers it then? Is it an even worse fall if you fail more?

what happens to evil aligned charnames? they can do whatever with no consequence?

pff that darn dragon is black! its pure evil! it deserves death!

I don't know why they chose to give them the Black Dragon creature animation. The creature names suggest that you'd have to fight a red dragon or spare the life of a silver dragon.

If you fail even only one test, you become evil. To preserve your good alignment you should never succumb to the taint, not even once in the tests.
Tests have different rewards depending on your choice on each of them, too. An evil or good power boost for each test.

    Pride
    Good:+%20 resistance to elements
    Evil:+200 k xp

    Fear
Good:Immunity to +1 and normal weapons.
    Evil:+2 con

    Selfishness
    Good: +%10 mr
    Evil:+2 ac

    Greed
    Good:+2 to all saves
Evil:+15 max hp, plus you get to keep Blackrazor

    Wrath
    Good:+1 wis +1 cha
    Evil:+2 str

Overall, good rewards are better, except for fighters and wrath test. That +2 str is too tempting!

However in the selfishness trial a good PC will have to lose 1 DEX, 5 hit points and some experience. The DEX loss particularly hurts.
