Can anyone tell me how to debug BG:EE not starting on Steam?

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
Hi there. i just installed BG:EE/SoD via Steam. I also modded it with Sword Coast Strategems and Baldur's Gate tweaks from Gibberlings 3. Unfortunately, when I try and start it, it just fails silently. The debug log in the Steam root folder doesn't show anything. Is there any way to figure why this is failing?

    Did it work ok without the mods? I'd start with checking that first, then install and test mods one at a time after that.
