Coast way Crossing... junk... hmmmmm

I thought about this in my first playthrough, but in this second one i'm actively trying to see if there's any easter egg on this.

In the first map after leaving Baldur's Gate, on Coast Way Crossing, there's a burned inn where you find some items and 3 junks.

Then i thought... junk... hmmmm...

To anyone that played Planescape:Torment here these junks probally hit a bell, didn't they?

So, there's any chance that i'm carrying one or more portal keys on my backpack at the moment? One can always wish... :)!

I remember the junk being portals in PS:T, but I don't remember where they where used to open these portals.

I noticed that 1 pile of junk in particular is different from the others. I'm paraphrasing details, but when you approach it on the map, you get a message about a pleasant burning smell. If you look at the description of the junk,it says something about this pile of junk gives you pleasure.

They didn't ring a bell for me, no. And I've played PS:T several times. I think the reason is because junk is common in RPGs, before and after PS:T.

In PS:T some junks were portal keys. The fact they took the trouble of create 2 kinds of junks, the fact that the 2° kind (trash) has an game msg when you click on it's spot and knowing Beamdog love for easter eggs i would bet my 2 cents that it wasn't a simple trash what we found.

If someone could search on the game files to check this, that would be real nice!

To my knowledge, apart from the useless items found in the Modron Maze, there is one kind of junk in PS:T, and it opens one portal: the one leading from Ragpicker's Square to the Trash Warrens.

I'm not disputing the reference to PS:T, all I'm saying is that it didn't ring a bell because I have played many RPGs that have junk for loot!
