Savegame and area transition crashes

Dear Beamdog!
so, I have been playing SoD and in general enjoying it - good job!
However, the crashes I encounter have become really tiresome. I'm playing a Multiplayer game on one computer (PC) (I'm used to doing this in order to avoid permanent damage in characteristics during parts of BG2). From what I can tell I made a huge mistake by starting MP instead of SP though.
So the game keeps getting damaged, preventing me from changing areas and/or saving.
First time it happened I found somewhere that the scripts feature might cause the problem. That's too bad as the advanced AI feature seemed really cool. So I switched everyone to Advanced AI with nothing selected and it helped. Of course, the issue returned several times as I allowed new NPCs to join my party. Quite tiresome but managable.
Second time the scripts were not the case and instead I found somewhere else on the forums that the area data IN my save game is probably screwed and that there is a way to reset it. So I downloaded the nearinfinity thingie, and resetted one of the areas (by deleting info about it). Fortunately it worked and I was able to continue, although this solution is much more messy.
However, today it happened again and Nearinfinity did not help. I had an auto-save from the previous area, but turns out it is damaged too. And I tried re-installing, baldur.lua deletion, computer restart, but that did not help either.
Is there a chance you're going to address these crashes in the near-future? I would really like to finish the game and not spend much of the time on finding tweaks to avoid the crashes. I wouldn't want to have to start from scratch, obviously.
Best,
WH
