Jan in Valygar's Armor?

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
In EE, can Jan still retain his spellcasting if he equips Valygar's armor when he gets the thief HLA, Use Any Item?

If not, other than Alsy. Elven Chain and any of the Robes, what armor allows spellcasting?

    You cannot equip Valygar's armor (or any personal equipment) even with Use Any Item

    Ah ok, what is the best armor after Asly. Eleven Chain then that allows spellcasting?

    For AC? Yes. For spellcasting, it's the Robe of Vecna.
