That at the end of BG1 (before SoD), you take all the gear back from your allies? Like, they've fought through the same stuff you have, then you strip them down and toss their crap in a treasure chest.

"PUT THE ARMOR IN THE FREAKIN BOX, JAHERIA!"

    IIRC you don't, except only that of Imoen, and it's on another chest (didn't see it though on my run) so presumably that's her stuff.

    Your companions from BG1 keep all their items and still own them when you meet them again in SOD. Except for Imoen and the mentioned separate chest in Ducal Palace where she put all her stuff.

    In my playthrough Dorn lost his stuff from BG1.

    Dorn's stuff should be in a chest near his cage.

    It was, but it was some generic plate mail, helmet and his sword. He should've have sword +3 from Durlag's Tower, Spiderbane, boots of speed, helmet of defence and some other minor stuff.

    It didn't happen with me either. Both Minsc, Dynaheir, Khalid and Jaheira had their old equipment at the begining , but after the ducal palace when I got to meet them again they were carrying generic stuff.

    This is a bug. Intended behaviour is they have the gear, proficences, spells etc that they had when you last saw them.

    My hunch is it may be associated with importing a final save created with a pre 2.0 version of BG1.

    Thanks! I hope it is not an intended bug, as I'm playing the pre-expansion part with 1.3 version so I can use mods.

    I had something truly weird happen, which was that Neera had all generic stuff (instead of the completely amazing gear she had before Ducal Palace) EXCEPT she still had her gem bag, but only with 1 thing in it: that special Angel Skin ring from that Angel the Cat quest.
